THE AUSTRALIAN HAIRDRESSING AND BEAUTY AWARDS INFLUENCER OF THE YEAR

 

This competition is for all Industry influencers and has been created to promote the Creative Disciplines of Hairdressing/Make-up/Barbering/Beauty Industry’s to find someone who is passionate, technical/creative and a positive influence who has created a unique personal style of their own.

Open to all Hairdressing, Beauty, and  Make-up professionals who are employed in the Hairdressing/Barbering /Beauty/Makeup  Industry.

To enter you will need to:

  1. Submit an image, strictly an 8”x10” (20 cm x 25.5cm) photographic image must be lodged with the HBIA by Monday 31st March 2020.

  2. Please submit a bio that includes your current work, qualifications, and why you should be considered for this award.

  3. What would you tell someone who is thinking of starting a  Hair/Make-up/Stylist career about the Industry?

  4. Your professional  Social media handles  that represent your work, ie looks you have created (please include  social media #)

  5. Finalists will be selected based on how they have met the criteria by our panel of Judges.

  1. This is an introduction into the world of hairdressing photo shoots combining hair, makeup and styling.

  3. The photograph is to be of ONE FEMALE MODEL ONLY and reflect CURRENT TREND fashion magazine work of a high standard.

HIGH FASHION MAKE-UP COMPETITION - STUDENT CATEGORY

Practical Make-up competition for Make-up/Beauty Students currently enrolled.

With social media a new make up trend appears everyday.

What is a new make-up trend you can create as a make-up artist

Feathery eye brows, contouring, sharpliner, glitter lips or rainbow eyes.

Your new trend must be applied and created in a tasteful way, and inspire professionals and make-up enthusiasts for the new season.

Time allowed- 1hr 

  1. ·All models must have a clean face with no make-up applied

  2. On one model to create a high fashion look reflective of creating a fashion trend

  3. ·Use inspiration from Social Media,Catwalks ,and Fashion TV to create your look

  4.  Be creative try something new

  5. Judging will be on technique, and the overall make up look.

FEMALE STYLING IRON AWARD - JUNIOR CATEGORY

PRACTICAL STYLING COMPETITION
Scrutineering Time: 8:40am

Judging Time: 9:45am 

  1. On One female model, competitors must complete a style using a styling iron of any sort

  2. Pre-prepared hairstyles will result in disqualification

  3. Examples of styling irons include; straightner, tongs, crimper, curling iron etc.

  4. Examples of current styles you may wish to create are; waves, crimps, curls, straightening etc.

  5.  Models to be taken for scrutineering, with the hair raw which includes

  6. hair hanging free, dried, with no pre-sectioning, braids or ponytails.

  7. Blow driers are not permitted

  8. Judges will award points for styles that accentuate movement and control of the hair and reflect current fashion trends.

  9. Time allowed is 45 minutes.

  10.  Competitors exceeding this time will automatically be disqualified.

  1. On One female model, to create a design cut by removing an average of 3cm overall from the hair and to clearly create a change of style.

  2. Finished look is to reflect current fashion trends.

  3. All textures of hair will be considered.

  4. Styling method optional and pre-prepared hairstyles or pre-cut to style will result in disqualification.

  5. Points will be allocated for your model’s overall look.

  6.  Time allowed for cut and finish is 45 minutes.

  7. Colour must be used to enhance the final result.

THE PERFECT  PONYTAIL - JUNIOR PRACTICAL

  4. The completed look must be complemented by clothing and makeup and should reflect current fashion trends.

  5. Models to be taken for scrutineering, with the hair raw which includes hair hanging free, dried, with no pre-sectioning, braids or ponytails.

  6. Time allowed is 45 minutes.

  7. Competitors exceeding this time will automatically be disqualified

    Visual judging only, 70% of points goes towards colour and 30% towards the overall effect. A declaration that the model’s hair has been coloured by the competitor will be required prior to taking the competition floor.

BRAIDING-SENIOR CATEGORY

  2. Multiple Entries will be accepted

  3. All colouring to complement the hairstyle incorporating today’s current fashion creative colour trends and inspired by unicorn colour.

  4. All work to be pre-done.

  5. No wigs allowed

  6. Visual judging only, 70% of points goes towards colour and 30% towards the overall effect. A declaration that the model’s hair has been coloured by the competitor will be required prior to taking the competition floor.

  7.  The finished styling must reflect today’s current fashion trend. Think bold, think pastels, must be magical. Hair extensions and  wefts can be utilised in completed look up to 50%.

MENTOR AND APPRENTICE –HAIR UP

Judging Time: 1:45pm

  1. On One female model apprentice is to be mentored to create a hair up style that allows the opportunity to showcase their hairdressing skills.

  2. The finished result should reflect 2020 salon work that is created when a client requests a modern hair up style.

  3. Mentors must not touch the models hair however can verbally assist the Apprentice/Student with their hair up style

  4. Mentoring focuses on developing employees' skills therefore judges will be assessing the verbal communication between the mentor and apprentice as well as the skill level achieved from this communication

  5.  Models must be brought to the hall:  Set in rollers and dried (hair must not be combed or brushed after drying until the competition begins) hair hanging free, dried or wet, not pre-sectioned, braided or in a ponytail.

  6. Time allocation is 40 minutes – competitors exceeding this time will automatically be disqualified

  7. Hairpieces may be used, but must not cover more than ONE-THIRD of the finished hairstyle.

  8.  TWO-THIRDS of model’s natural hair must be visible upon completion.

  9.  Padding may be used however must not be visible upon completion.

  10. Judges will require model to both sit and stand during the judging.

  11. MODELS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PARADE PRIOR TO THE AWARDS PRESENTATION.

  3. Forecast the next thing in fashion as far as technique

  4. Anything goes.

  7. Finished look is to reflect edgy trends.

  8. Pre-prepared hairstyles or pre-cut to style will result in disqualification.

  9. Time allowed for cut and finish is 45 minutes.

THE BOB – SENIOR CATEGORY

  1. This is a pre done competition

  2. On One female model, competitor must create a ‘Bob’ cut to reflect current fashion trends.

  3. All Bob styles allowed

  4. Styling method is optional and Bob techniques can include but not limited to; asymmetrical, undercuts, fringes, layered, graduated etc.

  5. Points will be allocated for your model’s overall look.

  6. Colour must be used to enhance the final result.

  7. All cutting tools allowed.

  8. Declaration must be signed on the entry form pledging that all works are carried out by you, the competitor

"INSTA BLONDE” - SENIOR CATEGORY

  2. Create a global blonde with 80% of the hair being a level 9 or lighter

  3. All colour work to be pre done

  5. Utilise todays free hand colouring techniques to complete the look

  6. Balyage and free hand painting techniques it’s up to you

BALYAGE COLOUR - OPEN CATEGORY

  1. On a Model create the perfect balyage blend

  2. Open for all competition competitors

  3. Multiple entries will be accepted

  4. Create a  commercial trend look that reflects current fashion BALYAGE  trends

  5. the look must have a seemless transition and blend of multiple colours or tones

  6. can be presented using any colour level selection

  7. hair must be shoulder length or longer -Male or female Model -hair must be 70% coloured

  8. Emphasis on colour suitability and placement to suit the finished look

FEMALE CUTTING – JUNIOR

  1.  On One female model create a design cut by removing an average of 3cm overall from the hair and to clearly create a change of style.

  2. All textures of hair will be considered.

  3. Finished look is to reflect current fashion trends.

  4.  Styling method optional and pre-prepared hairstyles or pre-cut to style will result in disqualification.

  5. Points will be allocated for your model’s overall look.

  6. Time allowed for cut and finish is 45 minutes.

  7. Colour must be used to enhance the final result.

SESSION STYLIST RUNWAY AWARD

 

PRE DONE COMPETITION
Judging: Catwalk presentation on stage at 4:45pm

  1. Up to 5 models can be paraded on the catwalk (must have no less than 2 models)

  2. This is a team building category that allows an entire salon to get involved

  3. This is a designer collection presentation – no dancing allowed.

  4. Competitors must create a fashion look and put together a 1 minute catwalk and designer presentation to Music (timing will be judged)

  5. Song name and artist to be given to HBIA two weeks prior to the event

  6. Music, hair, clothes and make-up is to reflect the theme of the  collection.

  7. Presentation will be judged on the catwalk.

  8. Credits of fashion designers can be announced during the presentation. Details should be supplied when entering.

  9. All entrants will have their models professionally photographed after each runway presentation.
