Salon Briefings – You will receive regular Salon Briefings, ER information provided in Salon Update magazine and in Retail Detail.  Salon Briefings provide important updates on employer obligations in a range of matters such as changes to wage rates, latest public holidays and shop trading information, changes to industrial legislation, unfair dismissal, equal opportunity and a range of other employment related matters.  From time to time special briefings on important issues will be mailed directly to members.

 

Representation and advocacy in industry matters before the AIRC – At an industry level your membership includes representation in matters affecting the industry (as opposed to individual member matters) such as award variations, defending union applications, test cases and more. This representation ensures members interests are protected in these types of hearings and ensures HBIA is the best place to obtain retail industry advice.

 

Lobbying and government issues – The HBIA also does a great deal of advocacy for members behind the scenes on proposed legislation on employment matters affecting members, making submissions and appearances on behalf of members in a range of Government reviews and forums.You will also have access to our consultancy services at HBIA discounted member rates.
