
Centrally taking place at the Melbourne Convention Centre,the HBIA recently hosted their annual Australian Hairdressing Championships on 22nd June 2008. The intense competitive spirit was surely alive with a great number of high calibre salons taking part. Participants ranged from new apprentices to industry leaders who were all were provided with the opportunity to showcase their skills to their peers as well as the wider community of our industry.
Event categories consisted of 20 individual / team events, which also included several new categories.
With entries received from vast regions of Victoria and numerous entrants from NSW, the most popular of events this year proved without doubt to be the Photographic Colour Competition, Fashion Colour and Runway Look of 2008.
Chairperson of Judges, Michelle Anthony and Head of Scrutineers, John Govan headed a renowned team of industry professionals, who through their experience and expertise managed the difficult task of interpreting and scoring the outstanding works displayed by this year’s competitors.
The HBIA gratefully thank all of the judges and scrutineers for their expert assistance and personal time given to our industry event.
HBIA takes this opportunity to also specially thank Major Sponsor BIBA Academy and supporting sponsors who influenced a successful day of competitions. Thank you also to Victoria University for all their helpers who were involved and dedicated their time towards the administration of the event.
